Stop Hate Crime[/caption]
With the increasing volume of hate crimes occurring in-and-around King County, the county has created a new community based hate crime hotline called the Stop Hate Hotline. The hotline should help victims of hate crimes access services more quickly and efficiently than in times past. It should also improve the county’s ability to collect relevant data on reported hate and bias crimes. Callers to the hotline will be directed to community, non-law enforcement, groups and agencies that offer culturally sensitive counseling and trauma informed care. In essence, the Stop Hate Hotline will act to triage calls from residents who are unsure where to turn and/or what to do to find helpful resources when suffering at the hands of hate. In the social justice era, this is one more avenue to seek help without the forced assistance of law enforcement.
