Some scams don’t pan (pay) out. Take for instance a recent scam in California where a man designed thought of the bright idea to fake parking tickets and put them on cars. The citations created actually had QR codes which linked potential victims to a website the man created so that the ‘violators’ could pay their ‘fines’. Although perhaps well-conceived, the scam didn’t escape detection and the man who created it was taken into custody last week on suspicion of unlawful use of a computer system and attempted fraud. Presumably he will also face a myriad of theft charges if law enforcement can prove that folks actually did pay the fake parking fine, which - of course - he denies happening. Crime doesn’t pay, at least in this particular case, and will surely lead to some spendy attorney’s fees for the man arrested.
