Technology strikes again! Recently, tracking software proved beneficial in nabbing a pair of suspected thieves; Seattle police officers were able to locate the two individuals by using tracking software that was installed on a stolen computer, an Apple Mac Book Laptop.
The police began their investigation after receiving a report of a burglary in which $4,000 worth of items were taken from a home on the 1400 block of 35th Avenue sometime between late January 18, 2013 to early January 19, 2013. The laptop was one of the items taken in the burglary. The police used the laptop’s tracking software to track the computer to a downtown Best Western hotel.
Law enforcement quickly located the suspects, a 21-year-old man and a 33-year-old woman, and took them into custody peacefully. In addition to the computer, the Seattle police apparently also found $2K in cash, an e-reader and a stolen jacket in the suspects’ hotel room. The suspects were subsequently booked into the King County Jail.
